In the community, RNs are most commonly requested for Flu Clinics, Wound Care, IV Therapy or Palliative Care. Many of our RNs also work as relief staff for local residential care facilities which rely on Shylo for competent back-up staffing. RNs typically have three to five years of training through a college or university and hold a license in good standing with the College of Registered Nurses of British Columbia.
Palliative Care Nurses work in collaboration with other health providers (such as Physicians, Social Workers, or Chaplains) to anticipate and meet the needs of the patient and family facing a terminal illness. By providing expert management of pain and other symptoms combined with compassionate listening and counselling skills, hospice and palliative nurses promote the highest quality of life for the patient and family.
